Mailing-list
Github Discussions
The mailing list has long been a useful tool for asking questions, exchanging ideas, raising issues, and announcing science related things. This communication is now hosted on a platform with more functionality than a conventional user list. We therefore invite everyone to use the Discussion section on the GATE 10 github repository for communication concerning GATE 10 :
https://github.com/OpenGATE/opengate/discussions
- To post a message, you need to be logged into github. If you do not have an account yet, this is a good moment to create one. Once logged in, you click on “New discussion”, pick the category, and write your message as you would in an email.
- If you would like to be notified about new posts in the Discussion, go on the main GATE 10 repository page, https://github.com/OpenGATE/opengate, click “Watch”, and select the notifications.
- You can answer email notifications directly via email and your reponse will be posted in the Discussion section automatically – so it feels like a mailing list.
- The big advantage of this platform over the mailing list is that discussion can easily reference other issues, code, and pull requests.
- If you spot issues with the code, e.g. unexpected behavior or a bug, you can also raise an Issue: https://github.com/OpenGATE/opengate/issues. Issues can be turned into Discussions later.
The mailing list will now be mainly used for announcements.
